Couple Mooetry
11:50pm 24/08/2002
This pair of haiku's came from a lovely bovine couple up in the Northernmost pastures. Sadly, they lost a loved one in the Great Mass Suicide of last year...

I sleep standing up
Stop tipping me over, Whit
I moo and I fall
-Moobear

We can feed ourselves
It's called grass you stupid ass
Quit spreading rumors
-Cowlie

Moo on.

Inspiration
10:31pm 24/08/2002
This poem ganked from the lovely people at Far Side. Their beautiful words were the inspiration for our poetry corner. These, silly humans, are the words that moved us...

The Distant Hills
The distant hills call to me
Their rolling waves seduce my heart
Oh how I want to graze in their lush valleys
Oh how I want to run down their green slopes
Alas, I cannot
Damn the electric fence!
Damn the electric fence!

Thank You.

Moo.

A fragrant prayer to the dawn -
First cowpat of the day!

Mandi, from the Dairy Shed, brings us this touching piece:

He brings hay and shame
The food is the price he pays
For our cow silence

  Oh Sacred Cow!!

If you ask me
India is the place to be.
There cows are sacred
none are objects of hatred
There cows roam free
like Povich, Maurey
but are not married to Connie Chung.

Some beginning haikus.
11:13pm 20/08/2002
No better way to get our farm poetry group off to a start than with these two wonderful haikus! Both are penned by our sweet Clover from the North 40.

Hero
My Bovine hero,
from high atop the mountain,
strong and wise and proud.

-Clover

Queen
Beautiful Holstein,
Whose milk helps give life to all;
a true dairy queen.

-Clover
